Important: there is no “Civil Status Change” service option on the PSA appointment system. Changing your civil status on PSA records — for example, from single to married, or from married to annulled — happens through legal processes handled by the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO), not through an online appointment menu. This guide explains what actually works in 2026.
How civil status actually gets changed on PSA records
A change in civil status must be backed by a legal document that the Local Civil Registry Office registers with the Philippine Statistics Authority:
- Marriage — your marriage certificate, registered through the LCRO, changes your civil status from single to married.
- Court decrees — an annulment, declaration of nullity, or judicial recognition changes civil status (e.g., married back to single). These must go through the courts and then be registered with the LCRO.
- Administrative corrections (RA 9048 / RA 10172) — clerical or typographical errors in entries such as the first name, date of birth, or sex can be corrected through a petition filed at the LCRO. This is a staff-mediated process — there is no self-service online portal for it.

Petitions for correction under RA 9048/10172 are filed at the Local Civil Registry Office where the record is registered. The PSA’s internal correction system, APCAS, is a staff-side system used by civil registry personnel — it is not a public self-service portal, so you cannot log into it yourself. Work with your LCRO for filing, requirements, and follow-ups.
If you need to visit a PSA outlet in 2026
Following the phased rollout completed 5 October 2026, appointments are mandatory at all PSA CRS outlets, per PSA Advisory 26CRS01-0546 (released 26 March 2026). This applies to all clients, including National ID holders — the old National ID walk-in lane has been removed. Book for free at appointment.psa.gov.ph. Appointment slips are non-transferable and must bear the requester’s name. Once a correction is approved and annotated by the LCRO, you can request the updated certificate at a PSA outlet (outlet counter fees: ₱155 per copy for birth/marriage/death, ₱210 for CENOMAR/CENODEATH).
